Adopt

We bring our cats and kittens into the community by having adoptions in the Annapolis area at Petsmart and PetValu locations. Each location has different cats on show each week.

Petsmart locations and hours are in Annapolis and Arundel Mills every Saturday from noon to 3pm.

PetValu stores in Pasadena, Ellicott City, Annapolis, and Edgewater. Cats spend about a week there and are visited by volunteers or their fosters twice daily for cleaning and feeding.

Potential adopters are asked to complete an adoption application. Once the application is submitted, a Cats R Us representative will go over the application with the potential adopter. If there are already other animals at home, veterinary references will be sought and a veterinary check will be needed. This process is simply to protect the health of the potential adoptee and the companion animals already owned. Providing all goes well, an appointment for a home visit will be arranged and the adoption will take place at this time.

All of our rescues, adults and kittens, are spayed or neutered BEFORE being placed in a permanent home. Our cats and kittens have been evaluated by a veterinarian and given the proper tests (FeLV/FIV) and vaccines, de-wormed and treated for fleas. Our adoption fee for cats less than one year old is $120 for one, $200 for two. Cats older than one year old are $100 for a single cat and $180 for two cats. Exotic cats are $150-300 each.

If you are gone from home for an extended period during the day, and desire to adopt a kitten, please consider adopting two and share in the wonderful enjoyment two kitties bring to your life. You will be delighted (and comforted) in knowing that they have each other while you are away!

For more information or to arrange to meet this kitty please email us at adopt@catsrusrescue.org Roxie is a sweet 8 year old female tuxedo girl. She is in our shelter with other cats and does well with them. This beauty loves attention and will be a beautiful addition to your home. She was very friendly to everyone who recently visited her at the cages at Edgewater Petvalu, chatting to everyone when they spoke to her! The only reason this lovely kitty has not found a loving home is because Roxie is on a special diet to prevent bladder stones. This type of urinary diet is not uncommon for cats to need to stay healthy. She eats Royale Canin SO wet food, which she loves so she's an easy keeper. The cost of the food is $50 per month which is not much more than grain free or other healthy foods. She can have cat treats. Cats R Us will provide one months worth of food to her adopter. The food can be ordered from Chewy.com when your vet's information is provided in checkout. Roxie went to the vet recently for a dental cleaning and bloodwork so she's in good health and ready to join her new family! Please consider adopting her. She has been in our shelter for far too long. For more information or to arrange to meet this kitty please email us at adopt@catsrusrescue.org Bella is like her name, beautiful! She and her sister Chloe were adopted as kittens but returned to Cats R Us a year later when they moved. These sisters are different in personality, but get along well together if you are looking for a sibling pair. Bella is a piebald, but more of a cow kitty coloring. Like her sister, Bella can be reserved at first but loves to play, whether by herself or with a companion. Bella also loves playing chase with her sister Chloe. She loves to cuddle and knead her paws, and likes to crawl under your covers and snuggle. While she's not keen on being picked up, she loves lounging on the floor, stretching out to show her belly, which she doesn't mind if you rub! For more information or to arrange to meet this kitty please email us at adopt@catsrusrescue.org Poor Chief has been returned to our organization twice. Once after 10 years in a home from being adopted as a kitten due to a birth of a second baby. Recently a second time because the other cat in the home went after him. Chief is just trying to find his place in the world. He needs a quiet home with no other animals or children. He was declawed by his first family on all four paws! As a result he has sensitivity in his back feet so he needs soft litter in a high sided litter box. We are using Americas best cat litter which is working for him. When comfortable in his surroundings, Chief is a loveable sweet guy! He gives head butts and does butt raises for petting. Please help us find this sweet boy a forever home this time around! He just turned 11 years old and was recently checked by a cardiologist for a heart murmur that requires no medication at this time and he is currently at low risk of cardiovascular disease so he should have several years to give his love to a special person who gives him a chance. For more information or to arrange to meet this kitty please email Rose at cinnamon139@gmail.com Domino is 7 yrs old his previous owners were evicted from their row home in Baltimore and left him behind. A neighbor put a box with a blanket by front steps so he would have a place to sleep. He was there 2 weeks before I was asked to help. He never left, I'm thinking he was waiting for them to return. Domino loves and wants people attention and loves food! He would be best as only cat or with a passive female. My calico ignores him and the doesn't care about her either. He does not get along with other male cats. Not sure how he is with dogs but thinking he would be fine with a friendly one.

She and her sister Bella were adopted as kittens and returned to Cats R Us a year later when they moved. These sisters are different in personality, but get along well together if you are looking for a sibling pair, but they can be adopted separately. Chloe is a sweet little piebald with true "tuxedo" coloring - white at the throat, belly, and mitts. She is a bit reserved at first but is very loving once she warms up. She may stand on you for attention, or rub her face on you. Because she's a timid girl, Chloe would like a less boisterous home and would be great in a household with older or no children. For more information or to arrange to meet this kitty please email us at adopt@catsrusrescue.org Mila and her sister Lily are two of the last cats from a neglected cat colony in Laurel. When they first came into foster care, they were malnourished and in poor health. They have overcome so much together making them ideal as a bonded pair. Still under a year old these kittens are so special with such different personalities! Mila is the more outspoken one, she enjoys good cuddles and pets. She will hang out with you while you're watching TV or sit near you while your doing work. She likes to keep you close by. She likes to knead and suckle on soft blankets when you're laying down. Her favorite toys right now are String-On-A-Stick, and cat friendly bubbles! Both of the kittens entertain each other when no one is around, the wrestle with each other and sleep together. Lily is a bit more shy it takes her a little to gain your trust but, she likes to sit on your lap and get pets when she trusts you! You can tell when she wants pets; she will come over, flick her tail a lot and tap you on the arm or leg and jump into your lap! Her favorite toys are puff balls that she will carry in her mouth and hide around the house and (believe it or not) Q-Tips! She likes to take them out of the box and hide them. Mila tends to be the leader out of the two, she eats first, meets people first, and cuddles first but both girls would be lost without each other! Both kittens work well with other cats and respect the "pecking order". Mila is a bit more talkative than Lily but both of them make the cutest chirping noises when they look for each other and when its time to eat. Both cats live with dogs and other cats and get along well with all. Like many cats, Alf is shy at first meeting, but once acclimated he’s quite cheerful, chirping and seeking pets. He’s a good boy, 6 years old, no health challenges to date and the ideal home would be one that is calm and quiet and with a patient cat savvy person or couple. He lives with two small cat friendly dogs. He also lives with several cats and the occasional foster kitten. His ideal companion if adopter is seeking two is Patience. She was frightened at first and had clearly been mistreated. In her foster home she regained her strength and blossomed into a beautiful girl. This sweet girl was found outside in January 2015 and was captured to be TNRed (trapped, neutered, and returned), but it quickly became apparent that she loved people! Belle loves just to sit next to you and she loves having her ears scratched. If you find the right spot, her foot will start kick in the air! But don’t let her laid back, sleepy act fool you, she is still an energetic hunter! She goes nuts for laser pointers and feather and string toys and she is a big fan of catnip. Belle also loves blankets and she will sit on any paper or box you leave on the floor! This beautiful tabby just turned 7 years old and would prefer a home with no other animals, but would do okay with a laid back animal that left her alone (she coexists with a non dominant cat in her foster home).
