Cats R Us Rescue Receives Donation from Gambrills PetValu

In April 2014, area PetValu stores observed Pet Appreciation Month and collected donations for a deserving animal rescue. PetValu stores in Gambrills, Edgewater and Annapolis selected Cats R Us Rescue (www.catsrusrescue.org) as the recipient of customer donations. The donations totaling over $3,000 combined from area stores will be put to immediate use for veterinary care for cats in Cats R Us Rescue shelters and foster homes.
Cats R Us Rescue specializes in TNR or Trap, Neuter, Return, in which feral cats are humanely trapped, given full check-ups including vaccinations and are sterilized by area veterinarians. The feral cats are then released (when safe) to their original territory. Since Cats R Us Rescue’s founding in 2000, over 10,000 cats have been spayed or neutered at low-cost clinics arranged by Cat R Us Rescue volunteers. This effort greatly reduces the population of feral cats in Anne Arundel County.
Sometimes domesticated cats are found at feral cat colonies managed by Cats R Us volunteers. These cats enter their adoption program after receiving full veterinary check-ups and vaccinations as well. The cats reside at one of two Cats R Us Rescue area shelters or in a foster home.
During the spring and summer months, Cats R Us receives many requests for help with found kittens (and sometimes mother cats). These cats and kittens are placed in foster homes and when the kittens are old enough, they are spayed or neutered, fully vetted and available for adoption.
Cats R Us Rescue is grateful for the support of companies like PetValu. For more information on Cats R Us Rescue or to see cats and kittens available for adoption, please visit www.catsrusrescue.org.
Adoption shows are held at the Waugh Chapel PetValu (Gambrills) on the second Sunday of each month from 1:00-4:00pm.
